Prof. LIU Xiaogang and Prof. ZENG Huaqiang Visit FJIRSM
At the invitations of the Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials Chemistry and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry, Prof. LIU Xiaogang and ZENG Huaqiang fromthe National University of Singapore (NUS), visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) on June 17-19, 2010. They presented talks entitled with “Colorimetric DNA Detection via Nicking Endonuclease-Assisted Nanoparticle Amplification” and “Fivefold-Symmetric Pentagons in Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics", respectively. In-depth discussions were carried out with the research staff of FJIRSM after the talks.
Prof. LIU Xiaogang got his Ph.D. (2004) at Northwestern University under the supervision of Prof. Chad Mirkin and then became a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Francesco Stellacci at MIT. He joined the faculty of NUS as an Assistant Professor in 2006. His research interests include nanomaterials synthesis, upconversion luminescent nanomaterials, supermolecule coordination chemistry, catalysis, and nanobiosensor. He has published more than 30 papers in high-impact journals such as Nature,Science,Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.and J. Am. Chem. Soc., etc.
Prof. ZENG Huaqiang received his Ph.D at Buffalo, the State University of New York, in 2002 and then became a postdoctoral fellow in the Scripps Research Institute of American. He joined the NUS as an Assistant Professor in 2006. His main research primarily focuses on organic chemistry, chemistry biology, supermolecular catalysis, and nanobiochemistry. He has published more than 20 papers in the prestigious academic journals such asProc. Nat. Acad. Sci.and J. Am. Chem. Soc.
