At the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry, Prof. DU Miao fromTianjin Normal University visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) on November 29th, 2010. During his stay, Prof. DU delivered a seminar report entitled “Crystal engineering --- from organic hydrogen bond solid to the organometallic coordination polymers” and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff of FJIRSM.

Prof. Du got his B.S and Ph.D from Nankai University in 1998 and in 2003, respectively. At present, Prof. DU is a full-time professor with the College of Chemistry at Tianjin Normal University, and a distinguished professor of Tianjin City. He has been selected as one of the first level candidates by the “131 Innovative Talents Cultivation Project” in Tianjin, and one of the winners for the “New Century Excellent Talents Program” by the Ministry of Education. He is mainly engaged in researches on crystal engineering and coordination chemistry. He has published over 200 research papers, among which more than 90 papers were published on the important journals with the SCI impact factor over 3.0. And his papers have ever been cited for more than 2500 times. Prof. DU won the first and second awards for natural sciences in Tianjin, and the second award for natural sciences by the Ministry of Education. Now he is a consultant editor of CrystEngComm published by the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK.
